Hi all,

I am planning on doing a mailshot to local schools/businesses in the near future (should have been done by now but you know how it is...)
Initially I was just going to send a nice glossy flyer, then I thought well that will probably go right in the bin. So I thought an envelope with the flyer, and a covering letter. Then I thought if I send a mousemat too then they might remember me rather than remembering the last flyer, then I thought what if I put them in one of those fancy folders (not sure of their proper names but you know the ones I'm sure http://www.folders.com/X_samples_startpage.asp like those) and sort of turn it into a "pack" rather than just a flyer and a letter in an envelope.
Does anyone have any comments/suggestions on this? In addition to the mailshot I would keep some back which I would give to people as necessary. I hope to follow up the mailshot with calls (not by me) a week or so later.
Assuming I go along with some or all of the above, I really need help with content on the flyer and the covering letter. Mousemats I am going to get from erm cant remember!! whoever sent me the sample, its at the shop. Jaqui is going to fix up the flyer design once I have an initial idea, and the letters I will print on my laser on decent paper, but I really need help with the content in addition to comments on my above ideas.
Also I need a source for folder if I decide to go along that route, I have had a quote but not cheap...

Thanks

CALV

Hi Calv,

We can help with copywriting for your flyers, and any other content you need. Take a look at the site (http://www.custom-copy.com) and feel free to get in touch if you'd like a quote.

My initial reaction to your post was that this sounds like a pretty expenive maildrop, especially if these are cold leads - i.e. people who have never expressed an interest in your service in the past.

Personally, I think a more cost-effective way to go about this would be to send a flyer/letter with some kind of call to action ("contact us now and we will give you X...") and then to follow it up with a phone call, in which you offer to send the welcome pack.

At least that way you only send your pack out to people who are actually interested in receiving it, rather than to people who may just throw it in the bin.

I think you should go for ambers suggestion.
The types of packs you are talking about I sent out to my clients when I was in recruitment, but would never have dreamed of sending them to a cold lead. Mousemats and glossy folders make next to no differnece as to the bin or no bin choice. I get them all the time through the door and I dont keep them.

I completely agree with Amber here Calv. Your mailshot is getting very expensive.

Well written copywriting alone can make a huge difference on the impact of your flyer.

That would be the route I sugegst taking instead of over investing in material.

Hope it helps

Jacqui
