Dear all,
Something Ive been thinking about is how to promote such a club, other competitors in the UK have spend a large amount on launch parties, I was thinking more along the lines of hiring a couple of cars for the morning and inviting the local press.
The only problem is, if you're not reading the paper that day you wont know about it.
Any ideas of other relativley low cost promotions?
I dont need to know about anything else like car insurance, I'm asking about PR.
Thank you.

These clubs are always advertised in the car magazines.
Have you got any cars yet?
What market segment are you going for.
Insurance companies is the big money maker from what I hear.
I would be contacting them and starting to find out the payments you could make and what inventory you would need to get online with them.

There are 2 routes with insurance companies. First of all is becoming an ABI acredited credit hire company. This way all insurers will pay you the same rate when you put a non-fault party into a vehicle. There are conditions on the hire though - you have to notify the insurer, cannot charge for delivery/ collected (and have to deliver the vehicle if the hirer wants it delivered/ collected). The main risk however is that whilst it may seem a clear cut case to start out with liability may be disputed and you only recover some of your hire costs. If you go down this route then it is best to get in with appropriate level of local garages - so if you have a load of Mercs or Porsches then get in with the local merc and porsche garage and get them to give your details to anyone coming in with non-fault damage to their vehicle. The disadvantage with this is that you need someone who knows insurance to argue liability etc.
The other option is to become a direct hirer for a number of insurance companies - you will get significantly less money this way per day of hire but you know that you will get every penny in as you are instructed directly by an insurer. I would however be surprised if there are any insurers that would want to get into a relationship with a prestige only hire car company. When I worked in claims we had 2 companies which we used and the would sub-contract any vehicle we needed and they didnt have (like refridgerated lorries or top of the range vehicles etc)
