I've done some confectionary labels in Publisher, and i'm now being asked for them in Illustrator form, as they might need to change colours etc before printing!?!
they are desperate for them but i have no idea what i can do?!?
Can someone help me??

What advice has the printer given you? If they are not giving any then that isn't very helpful.
Ask them if there are any other formats that might get by, it depends on the complexity of your design.
The only thing I can suggest is 'save as' and then maybe a tiff file but they won't be able to change any fonts but maybe able to colour pick out some colours.
There maybe someone here who can do some sort of conversion.

Im not sure how you can solve this, this is such a common mistake. I have customers all the time who have spent hours designing business cards and the like only to provide me with a word file or something created in MS paint. Unfortunately this cannot be used.
Artwork must always be created in a professional design package (Photoshop, Illustrator, Corel).
I expect that they want the files in Vector format, which, unless you have and can use illustrator you cannot provide.
Can they re-draw the designs for you?
Alternatively find a company that offers design aswell or get somebody like Mark at www.eagleimagery.co.uk to do them for you.
Good luck

Hi Both, thanks for your replies.
Stationery Direct - i completely understand! I did the labels for a friend as they were stuck, but never knew they would ask for it in this format and that it would go this far!
Gary - i think i'll have to go back to the people i did the labels for and get them to ask the company in question, who are in Holland!!
Thanks again for your help

What I do is group all the items together and then copy and paste into photoshop. You can then save the image as a JPEG, Gif, Tiff or whatever you like.

Hi Claire,
I've saved it as a JPEG no probs. I have a basic photoshop version but its the formats that dont seem to match with Illustrator :-(

Can you copy it into word and then group and paste back into publisher?

use adobe on-line and convert the doc into a pdf file that might help ( you get 5 free conversions when you register)

They obviously want vector images. I am not familiar with it, but I would say your only real option is to recreate it in Illustrator.
This allows them to scale the artwork to fit and to do things like alter the colours to suit the client's requirements.

I believe Publisher can export as WMF/EMF - these are vector formats that Illustrator should be able import. If this doesn't make any sense, feel free to send me a PM and I'll take a quick look at the files for you if you want.
