Hello all.
I am 27 and omn a floristry business named Scents of Occasion based in harborne Birmingham.
It is run from a workshop at my home which allows me to keep costs down considerably!!
I am also looking into expanding the business into other areas of wedding work, ie chair cover hire, wedding planning, dress hire etc ...
I am also planning a large photo shoot to produve some amazing images for my new website which is currently under construction.
As i am am the only person working for the business and i have only been trading for under 12 months i still have a lot to learn..
Hopefully through this site i will be able to meet like minded people to chat with as i do not have any support from the people around me and have no-one to talk too about the business and my ideas!!!
I look forward to speaking with , and swapping thoughts , with some of the lovely people on here.:D

Hi Pixie,
Just found your thread and noticed you hadn't had any replies! So hello from me even if I'm not in West Midlands.
There are a few wedding pros on here - maybe they are all busy working at the moment....
I'm actually finding Twitter quite useful for networking with other wedding industry people. Have you tried it? I'm not a frequent tweeter but you can follow me at http://twitter.com/alisonpwren
All the best

Shame you're not local to me in Yorkshire, I'm always happy to meet with other wedding-y people :)

We're based in Solihull so not a million miles away from Harborne!
We have recently completed some orders for weddings - dressing gowns for the bride/bridesmaids on the wedding day and embroidered bath robes as a surprise gift from grooms parents to the happy couple.
Glad to have you on board.

Hi,
Welcome!
I can recommend a web deisgner who specifically works with Florists, and I believe the monthly cost is very reasonable. PM me if interested!

Hi Pixie,
We are new to this site aswell.
We are based in Lichfield and while not directly involved in the wedding trade we sell lingerie to anybody including brides.
We specialise in plus sizes.
We also do all the novelties etc that women tend to use on their hen nights.
Good luck.
Nicky.

Good afternoon all
Thank you very much for your replies, i have tried to pm a few of you but have been unable to do this, i think it may be due to lack of previous posts, ...not sure???
I look forward to being in further contact with you and being able to share thoughts and ideas.
I am currently looking into some networking and possibly arranging a wedding fayre , however will be remaining focused on the photo shoot for the time being :D
I also have a very busy october and will be booked every weekend, the one i am most looking forward to , and a little apprehensive about , is a ball for ladies fighting breast cancer and i will providing 68 flower arrangements, without staff:eek:, however it is very prestigious and will have famous hairdressers and make up artists attending and lord digby jones!!
so should be interesting!!!

Hi Pixie
Do you have a photographer organised for your photo shoot? If not, I could highly recommend one for you?

Hi Pixie
I'm in the process of starting my own Celebration and Wedding cake and favour business in Birmingham, so if you ever do decide to arrange your own fair, I'd be interested in hiring a stall. I'm actually very nervous about stepping out on my own, this is all new to me so its nice to hear of other people who are making it happen.

Hi there
I'm in the process of leasing a property in Wylde Green and will be looking for a solicitor. This may be a silly question, but at what point should we consult one? We've only recently viewed it and are about to put in an initial offer.
Many Thanks
Lisa
