Hello everyone,
Bit of a technical problem this morning. I dont know how or when but somehow I seem to have disabled all of the shortcuts that can be used via the keyboard when using Illustrator.
Does anyone know how I managed this and how it can be fixed ??? Its driving me insane. :x
Thanks in advance for your advice.
Cheers

Try the adobe knowledge base
http://www.adobe.com/support/main.html
Not sure if you're mac or pc but there's a few things in there.

Had a look through the knowledge base but I cant find the solution.
There must be a combination of keys that I pressed to do this. So logically there must be another combination to activate them again !
Going to stand on the keyboard to see unless anyone else has any ideas !

Right I now know that there is a key combination that I can use to activate and disable this but have no idea what it is. So will keep on trying.
You pay a small fortune for software and then in the touch of a key, you are left banging your head against the keyboard in the hope that somehow it will push down the magic combination !!!

Have you created a new set of short cuts by accident?
You can check by going to Edit - Keyboard shortcuts

Checked that. Its still the default one.
Some of them are working. Basically its the ones with the space and shift key that have stopped working.

Have you just done an update to OS X 10.3?
Installed anything else?
Weird that only shift key, try the shift key at the other end of the keyboard.

Nahh its not the update. The shortcuts stopped working before that come to think of it.

Still no shortcuts
If anyone else has an idea of what has happened then feel free to get in touch. Or if anyone knows of a key combination that disables them then let me have it and it might activate them too !

I doubt if this helps, but just after Christmas one or two of my programs just stopped working for no apparent reason.
Even re-installing them didnt solve the problem. What I had to do was back-up everything then wipe and re-install OSx.
This probably seems like overkill but I had no other option..

Im re-installing everything now in the hope that it will be ok afterwards. If not, think Im going to have to do the same.
Thanks everyone

Problem solved ! :D
So, just for you all to know ther was an issue with the language of the computer. Its in English and I was told by someone on a Mac forum to switch the language over to another, then shut down everything and restart. As soon as I did that I then switched back to English and hey presto - it works !
I know have full use of all my shortcuts and life and designing seems so so much easier now.
Thanks again everyone for your pms, emails and responses yesterday.
Lovely bunch of people you are !
Have a great day.
