I am not sure if I'm being really stupid , but I am transcribing a tape for a client and they keep referring to the location as 'locus', I thought maybe I was struggling with the accent. But I don't think it's that as everything else is fine!
Am I being really silly or is this a dialect thing? Is it Locus/Locas? :|
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!

The word locus is Latin (http://www.ukbusinessforums.co.uk/wiki/Latin) for place

If its an actual location there is a place in Scotland called Leuchars, could it be this? (Near St Andrews, has an RAF base, spent a happy 4 months there many, many years ago as a young man.)

No I think it is locus, as it refers to different places. Thank you though, as I didn't know that either!

locust are nastie beasties that eat crops and cause widespread starvation. They should be eliminated at all costs!

In Cornwall, 'locus' is said when greeting your uncle's son. Can't speak for Scotland, though.

Well, you've had some silly and some sensible ideas put forward. I sincerely hope you have sorted your dialectical problem because it's over a week now, since you originally posted. If you haven't finished and delivered the transcription by now, your client probably won't be coming back!!

Yes, I did sort it thank you, it was the location one. And yes, the customer has already returned a few times now so I think that means I got it right!
Thanks all for your suggestions!
