Hello everyone,

I’m not new to UKBF (some of you might recognise me) but I have a new venture to introduce. 'Speechless’ is my long term dream almost-fulfilled – an online black-and-white photography gallery.

I’m still working on reaching my own definitive style (trapped frustratingly inside my head at the moment), but practising hard and displaying what I’ve accomplished in the meantime. Some of the images are available to buy.

You can view the gallery at http://www.speechless-gallery.net. I’d love some feedback from all those with a photographic eye please? Thanks!

Looking forward to networking here.

Michelle

Hi Michelle,

Welcome fellow arty type to the forum. Nice site you have plain and simple, perfect for those black and white shots. My wife is looking forward to having a good look around later.

This is something thats on my list of todos but as usual a mechanic never fixes his own car :)

Hi Michelle -

You certainly have an eye for a good image. Keep shooting and keep developing. Cleaning some of the images after scanning would take you a step further.

Good luck and if you want my thoughts on a particular picture, just email it to me. (About 1 - 2 MB).

Thank you everyone for such a warm welcome, and for your comments. I'm glad to see lots of other gallery dreamers here, I thought it was just me!

Thanks Simon for your tips on cleaning up the images after scanning, and your offer to take a look at my shots. I may just take you up on that soon (need to get out and take more shots, if my office will release me!)

Looking forward to seeing you all around.

Michelle.

Wow, thanks John, I had completely missed that!

I've not yet perfected time travel yet, so I'll get that fixed today. Thanks for your keen eye!

Hi Michelle,

I've put this on here so you can all benefit.

As a tip off, try contacting the Learning and Skills Council. I work for them and we only use black and white photography for all of our corporate branding. We often need custom images taken so it could be well worth your while.

You'll need to contact marketing and communications at head office in Coventry www.lsc.gov.uk Good luck

Some nice work. If you want a techie comment I'd say you still need to do some work on how to light faces using natural light only. Some of your pics work well and others are not so good from this point of view. You are bringing out everyone's character nicely though.

Good luck with your gallery.

Thanks Claire, that sounds like a good opportunity. I really appreciate that, I'll get in touch with them this week.

Michelle.

Thanks FionaB, I think this is probably my biggest weakness that I'm trying hard to work on.

I was hoping to be able to bring out everyone's character in the photos, so I'm glad that you like that aspect. At least I know I'm on the right track.

It's been great to receive so much constructive criticism from everyone here, it's been more than useful. I'm glad I came!
