Hi

Ive just joined the forum and I have 2 questions:

1) As im a total novice at SEO and the web. Is there anyone who can either give advice or help out for free with SEO of my site?

2) What is the best way of learning more about SEO if they wanted to make a career out of it?

Reading this SEO beginner's guide (http://guides.seomoz.org/beginners-guide-to-search-engine-optimization) would be a good start.

2) What is the best way of learning more about SEO if they wanted to make a career out of it?
Read stuff on the internet but question everything. There is a lot of misinformation about SEO circulating. Work on your own sites to improve rankings/traffic/conversions to get some experience.

Remember that SEO isn't the end goal, it's just a means to an end.

I expect there are people, in fact i know there are people :)

The best way to learn is to do. Do it for yourself, suffer the pain of mistakes personally, and then, when you have served your apprenticeship and are confident enough to work for others, you will have the examples to cite to them.

Build a few websites, promote them.

Nothing like experience. :)

If you want it for free you will have to do some reading. There is plenty of info on this forum to make a basic start. Advanced SEO comes with experience and thus a price.

It is unrealistic to expect people to give their time away for nothing and anyone willing to do so is unlikely to offer anything but the basic advice you could read for yourself on here.
