Hi

been to see a couple of accountants but could do with some more info

I run a pretty simple business make and bag some items and post them twice a day

trouble is I make pretty good profit I want to keep keep as much of this as possible and I dont seem to have that many things to claim for

then speaking to an old friend last night he now lives abroad

he said

treat yourself to a car as I use 50-50 business use

and as he used his house on the night time for book work etc he put through 20 % of his total rented house expenses all allowable and reasonable now this came to a lot more than the small 4 pounds a week figures Ive been reading

buy a new computer is the whole lot ofset?

can anyone shed anymore light on some tips

thanks

Are you a sole trader or limited company.

See here for sole trader:

Limited company here:

Costs hints here:

But have to say that I am surprised that the accountants that you have seen have not advised you on this.

Tip 1 - a good accountant should and will provide you with tax saving tips on an ongoing basis. Get a good one and you wont have to spend time searching for ideas.

Tip 2 - dont rely on tax tips from a mate or the guy in the pub;)
