I remember back in late Jan early Feb we were all saying how great things were, has that changed for anyone?
With April 5th upon us how looks this years turnover, I have doubled my turnover from last year already and adding as much as I can before the financial year is up. This is only my 2nd year in business as of June-ish
so pretty pleased.
And You?

You know us Scots never like to talk about money !!
But business is going very well this year. It's basically been non stop for the last 5 months. We are just coming up to our 1st year anniversary.
Sales are up but most importantly, the feedback from our customers is excellent.

Ups and downs for me in my first year, initially it was painfully slow, but things are picking up, got a couple of regular clients now, and a few potentials, and hopefully the mailshot I'm doing soon will bring some more work in (Thanks Michael for the unbiased advice)
I dont have years to compare, but things are slowly but surely on the up.

No worries, I am always available to any UKBF Member that wants advice of sales and marketing.
CALV asked about me doing some telemarketing - hope this is ok to mention calv.
But after a long chat i told him not too, with me anyway, we came up with a new plan. The point being I am not going to sell anything to you.
Just like to help if I can.

KashFlow has been going well this year. Obviously great news with the high(ish) profile investor I managed to bring in at the beginning of the year.
HAd a great start to this week but very quite the last couple of days. Lots of marketting activities kick in next month though.
The core business has totally exceeded all my expecations. Turning over more per month than we've ever done and just physically can't take on any more work. Enquiries that look promising I've passed on - some to others here. Ones that were tentative I've politely declined.
So all in all, pretty damn good.

Although it's good to have a strong turnover, if you have a limited company and you're in the first couple of year's trading, it can be financially beneficial to make an accounting loss. Depending on the timing of your year-end in relation to the tax year-end, it can sometimes be possible to get the benefit more than once (against future years' profits) on the loss incurred. Speak to your Accountant or Financial Adviser before pushing up your profits, if you know you can still earn those profits in a subsequent financial year (which, I know, can be a big "if"). One other way of exploiting this is to make sure you are taking full account of all costs in those early years. It's wise to consider if you are investing enough now in assets that will help your business be even more successful in later years.

theMBA - well put.
The Group's turnover is less than last year but we have since formed 2 other Ltd Co's and put money into them thus reducing/even our liabilities. The re-structure of the Group last year enabled us to free up more cash to pump into other projects and we have almost wiped out all the Group's liabilities so we view this as a healthy year to set foundation for years to come.
The Group has exciting plans underway, including relocating to Richmond, Surrey as well as appointment of new Directors to join the Board of our other companies.
We do not measure our achievements by the turnover alone but by various other factors i.e. new clients. I have secured a 50,000 2-year contract for our sister company, Hands On Access Ltd and just about to sign off the agreements.

I used to run a small printing and publishing firm. In 1989 I was approached by a large publisher who made me an offer I couldn't refuse. I made loads of mistakes in the selling process and realised that other people would most likely make the same mistakes. It was an unlevel playing field with the experience on the side of the large company. As such, following the sale I put together a consultancy business advising on how to sell your company. Nowadays, I buy and sell companies - about one per week.

We've been growing at an avearge of 21% per month this year which is tough but a good problem to have.
We have to grow our physical network and provide support to an increasing customer base whilst simultaneously sinking money into product development. At this stage it's all investment and hard graft.
Apart from a few quid on google and DIY press releases, we spend nothing on marketing and every penny we make is re-invested in the technology. It's a good place to be, but hard work.
