It seems the search results of Yahoo will soon be Bing flavoured, apparently by the end of this week. I'm wondering if that means I will get exact search results over both the platforms which if so will be a big bonus for those of us who rank well in Bing but not so well in Yahoo.

Looking forward to testing this once it has been rolled out.

How popular is Yahoo these days? Can't say I've ever used it.

Just under 17% search share so not too bad if you can grab your own piece of it.

I may have jumped the gun a bit with my initial post. Initially they are rolling this out to Canada and the USA so could be a little while until it effects the UK search results of Yahoo.

Isn't that just for the US, though? In the UK, I seem to recall Yahoo market share is around 7-8%.

I rarely, if ever, use Yahoo and I don't know alot of people that do. Bing has been advertising for a while now though and I've used it a few times. I imagine it will definitely pick up popularity over the next year or so.

I don't know if this is any help but when I type 'krave media' into google we come up as the first result, on bing we don't even make the first page. ):

Yeah this happened a while ago.

Yahoo have been backing out of search for the last two months, firing most of their search 'guys' Bing and Yahoo combined will have roughly a %25 market share. But that still wont threaten google.

If they combined into ONE engine, then maybe they could build enough brand reputation to topple google, but not as it is.

The funny one was Yahoo Japan using Google to power its search results :D

Personally - I think Bing will claw market share in time.

MS have made some complacent decisions in the last 5-6 years across various sectors that it serves and has a foot print in. Virtualisation is one, Search is another, Identity Management, etc etc

You see them clawing back share in the others and with the investment they are making in Search you have to wonder how long it will be till they are a credible threat to Google...

Yahoo were showing as 3% of incoming visitors for one of our clients, just recently bing overtook that with about 3.5% And they are listed in the top three for most searches related to that business on Yahoo.

Google is around 70% and the rest various links and referrals.

We've also noticed that having sites in number one position on Yahoo brining in little or no enquiries. As said, I don't know anyone personally who uses Yahoo and haven't for quite some time.
