Hello there,

I'm currently interning at a company that has recently become interested in mobile advertising for various smartphone platforms. The company has already developed a few applications for the iPhone and iTouch; some of the apps are free, others you have to pay for.

My current mission as the intern is to figure out how this whole in-app advertising ordeal is supposed to generate revenue for our company. What's the best model to use (i.e. use free apps with ads, apps at low prices with good features, etc.)? How do we put an advertisement for our app in another company's app, how does a company advertise on our app (how do we generate revenue from the given company/agency). What kind of revenue/profit can we expect by starting this campaign?

I'm really trying to become an employee at this company and finding out this information could make or break me, so to speak. I have been researching the iAd and AdMob services and found that I am not getting the specific answers that I need. If anybody knows anything about this app stuff, please provide some insight or help to point me in the right direction.

Thanks for reading.

Hi,
I am a mobile marketer, and if you need mobile advertsing done, i am your man.
To make money with apps. There are a few ways you can go:
1. Sell a free app, and make money by putting admob ads on the app. To make money this way, you need lots of people using the app regularly.
2. Sell an app for over £10, and make money from just selling the app. This way you will need to advertise, and market the app very well.
3. Sell the app for very cheap. About £1. Then give the user the option to buy an upgraded version for dearer, or to buy some in app content. Eg. extra clothes for the sims games.

Hope that helped. And if you need any mobile advertisng/marketing done, let me know.

Hi there.

As a first step, I would recommend downloading the free guide to Games Advertising on the IAB Web site. (Sorry can't provide the links because I haven't been a member of the site long enough).

While I know a number of independent seeders who specialise in Gaming, if in your shoes, my first call would be to Somo Agency. The principal there founded Overture ages ago and clearly knows his stuff. Somo is relatively new in the space, but I saw Carl (the principal) speak a couple weeks ago and he's clearly at the forefront.

After taking the above two steps, you'll be knowledgeable enough to either decide which steps to take to do the job internally, or know what questions to ask of other potential marketing partners.

Hope this helps!
K

I'm rarely on here these days but there is a spam post in nearly every topic I have opened today.

That's far too many dogs to shoot :(
