sponsoring a local football team - tax implications

Hi, I am thinking about sponsoring a local football team.

They are not a limited company. If I give them £250 out of good will or £500 for them to put my logo on there shirts, what are the tax implications?

Can i ligitmatley put this through the business?
Will I have to pay tax on the amount?
How should I record this?
