Yes - using the likes of adsense, clickbank and amazon you can make a tidy sum if you get the right products ranked and marketed.

That looks like gibberish to me - have you got an example of how you are making these tidy sums?

Yes it is possible but is becoming increasingly difficult. I started 3 years ago and it's a bit like running up an escalator the wrong way - as long as you run fast enough you will stand still.
It depends a lot on what market you are aiming at, how much time you have and how much cash you are willing to burn. The days of easy money are long gone I'm afraid.

I'm not really interested, unless you have something useful for the O/P

I think its too much like hard work myself.
You have to seo a site as high as posible you have to have a product that people want.
You have to work on your site so its not a pile of crap and will convert people into making a purchase.
I think its something most seo's do. If your an seo and fiddle on ya computer all day its probably something you could do.
But i think there is better ways to make better money and less work.
Im tempted to have a try myself but not for the money, but the fact i enjoy seo for some strange reason . But too many of my own sites will probably stop me having the chance.

I'm glad we've found something to agree on.

Jay you do have something useful for the op. your doing 250 of these....
You should show an example,
its not like people are going to pick the same product and "out seo" you. Because it would be harder work to compete.
So lets see the electrical example you told me about previously :)

The key in todays online IM market is to not expect a large amount of money from a niche site for long periods of time. 6-15 months would be VERY good in todays online era [depending on if its information sales; ie pdf's, product sales via affilaite links ie amazon yada yada yada]. So when you do pick a niche make sure you do your research.
This then leads to how much effort you spend and the types of marketing you do online. If it's a relatively low competitive niche then you can get ranked high in a reasonable amount of time [3 months]
If the intention IS to maybe make a few k a month then it's better to have multiple sites across various verticals and then leverage them to create associates sites.

I think i would rather do something like this, rather than aim at products.
http://www.electrician-courses.info/
Just a site i found while looking for backlinks, people will always want to find that service to learn. So its will have an infinite use for people.
I myself always hit the back button when i land on sites adsensed so heavy,
But lots of people click these ad's.

Yes.

I don't use Uk programs, the UK market is pretty cynical and IMHO too much hard work. Yanks are more willing to part with their money. Having said that, there just mioght be a UK orientated product range coming from my sable in the not too distant future :-)
Yes it is possible but is becoming increasingly difficult.
Certainly more competition - like any business you need something unique to make you stand out, or do something nobody else is doing.
I started 3 years ago and it's a bit like running up an escalator the wrong way - as long as you run fast enough you will stand still.
I think maybe you are doing something wrong :-)

Some truth there, but you don't need huge amounts of cash, I doubt I spend more than £100 per product to get started. Buy a Domain and setup a website which you can create using a free standard wordpress theme.
The days of easy money are long gone I'm afraid.
Nonsense. I don't know of any easier or cheaper way of setting up a business which will bring you income for years to come... Yes. it does require work, but that's always been the case.

Good post WebLinkPlus
I would also say that one of the issues with making money in IM is that many people see those silly overhyped ads and emails from the alleged Internet marketers and think they will get that soonl which doesnt help.

I suppose it depends how you want to use affiliate marketing. As an affiliate? As a merchant?
If it's as an affiliate, you can make money if you are advertising items or services that have a connection to your products or services. For example a horoscope site would make money from books, cds, tarot cards/readings and maybe even spell kits as they are closely related to the subject of the site.
However, you need the traffic to the site to make any kind of head way
If it's as a merchant, of course you make money because you only pay on commission on sale or a fixed rate per action (sign up). in this scenario, I see affiliate marketing as a win-win form of marketing.
