Hi, I have 2 sites that were doing very well in search listings, 1 of the sites was my main site, with the other site being a more secondary site.
Both sites were listed in page 1 on Google, main site being no3 and second site being no 5.
I normally check most days to see where they are, but yesterday my main site is no longer listed, the closest one that i can see is on page 3, which is not my homepage?

I have submitted the main site to other directories to try and slowly link build, to help with listings search.

Why if anyone can answer it, has my main site been zapped or not showing up on the search listings?

Luckily i still have a web presence with the second site, which does link to my main site if customers follow the lnk directing them to the main site, both are nearly mirror images of each other, could this be a problem that has not arisen before, in that they are very similar?

Also on local search with Google, i was the top of the list, now i am second, i know that it doesnt matter as long as i have a web presence, which customers can find my services, but it is annoying as alot of time/effort has been put into seo bymeself and i am just interested if i have made a mistake somewhere along the lines????

Sites in question are:
Blindology and blindsplymouth

Thank you Neil

On 'vertical blinds plymouth', I make you No 2 plus one box in google places.

blindsplymouth is no 9.

Thanks Weblinkplus, the main search i normally check is "blinds Plymouth", i have just checked again today and low and behold, the site is back on the list for searches for blinds Plymouth, blindology at no3 and blindsplymouth at no6, no idea why it was not included for the last searches i have done, perhaps good ol Google having a bad day!!!!

But thank you for you reply

this is nothing to worry about.
It can happen on and off that the index changes.
It can be a dns flush or down time.
Or if you made a slight change to the beginning of the content on your home page. this in effect changes the order in which google caches the rest and assumes the page needs re indexing or even an update.
However i would be more concerned with the second part of your explanation.
You should keep websites as unique as possible mirroring will not bode well with the almighty google.
Write some new content for one of the websites to avoid this happening permanently.

Hi Ali-v-8,

thanks for the reply and the pointer, i will take note and do as you suggested. I wondered if mirroring would be a good idea or not, but as it is easy enough to change the format and wording i will do as you suggest.

Kind regards
Neil
