What is that figure of 300,000 readers based on when as you say:

Lightload Magazine will be distributed in the Lincolnshire area in Hair and Beauty Salons, Health Clubs, Hospitals, Doctors and Dentist Surgeries, Bed and Breakfasts and Hotels, Office Reception areas, Solicitors waiting rooms, Café’s and Resturaunts, Public Waiting Rooms and Selected Pubs.
Hmmm....so one of those freebie things hardly anyone actually looks at? Anyway, I'd have a few doubts about the quality of a magazine that manages to get 3 grammatical or spelling errors in a single sentence on its website (above; and that's not even mentioning the missing apostrophes).

It's also interesting that according to the 2003 census, Lincolnshire has a population of 312,400 people. So nearly everyone in the county will be reading this magazine? Man, woman, child, baby and all?
seems like 'lightload' has suddenly got a bit of a 'heavyload' all of a sudden :wink:

I have a feeling that this is not the circulation - readership is always bigger than the circulation because more than one person sees each copy of the magazine (a good average is 2 people to every mag)

Yes it did state a readership of 300,000 but I still don't see how it is possible in a county with a population of just over that number...nearly everyone in county would have to read it regardless of their age, gender, interests etc.

I'm trying to think of this from the perspective of lightload. S/he is probably trying to get something started, which would explain experimenting with different prices at different forums. OK, it wasn't a good idea, and maybe the readership claim was a little inflated (many over-eager newbies do this), but I hope the person feels able to come back and address our questions.
If you do something like this, you probably feel a bit of a fool and are hesitant to show up at any forum again - which is a shame.
Lightload: don't give up. You can learn a lot from others at this forum who are in a similar line of business. Do come back.

Agrees with Tin who agrees with Steve.
We all have to start from somewhere, and make mistakes in business and in life, but remember what you say in forums can be found by anyone looking to advertise in your magazine.

Tis alright girl, you took the same approach as me and I feel a bit mean too (but nowhere near as mean as you should feel) :wink: seriously tho, it's easy to react when you feel a post is not quite as genuine as you first expect.
I don't always say the right thing at the right moment but I can appreciate someone who does get it right at such moments which is why I applauded Steve.
I trust you'll deprive yourself of chockie for the next week now?

Sorry but I'm not apologising for being mean. I could of quite easily paid £1,000 for a slot in this magazine, where other advertisers would of paid £200 or £400.
I do agree with your comments about learning from mistakes though

Maybe it was a price test.
It makes sense for a starting business to test different prices. Didn't you test yours?

Did I test mine - hell no.
I researched mine, yes, looked at the competition, and the differences between services etc.
