I have had quite a few PR companies writing to me recently asking for a Media Pack for my Mumszone site. Can anyone tell me what a media pack should contain please and an idea of layout if anyone has one.

Thank you :D

Oooh nice site Toni! I can't help you with your question I'm afraid, but I couldn't resist but take a peak!

Do you mind me asking - how long has the site been live? And how have you signed up most of your members?

Thanks.

Not sure if we spoke about this? Maybe someone else?

Media Pack the way poncy marketing/pr people describe "site advertising info". :D

Basically in it you should have some or all of the following, the most important being the rate card as this is what people skip to.

1. Blurb about the owners of the business, bit of romantic background that makes readers interested

2. Your site traffic/readership stats and breakdown of type of visitors e.g. female, 30+, first time parent with loads of disposable income etc etc. This is so the PR person can understand who visits your site and if it fits in with their clients target market.

3. Your advertising rate card which includes, cost of various size ads, how long the ads will last, if they are exclusive to the advertiser or on part of a roster of ads so it will show to every 4th visitor etc. Typical click through rates. The cost of you designing the banner ad for them.

4. Some sites have advertising control panels that advertisers can log onto to see how their ad is performing.

5. How to get in touch and terms and conditions etc.

May have missed a few things, but these are the basics.

It is fine to do this in a word doc and then just convert to PDF. If you want, have a crack, send it over, I will take a gander and convert if you don't have adobe writer (you need this, not reader to convert stuff (sorry if you already know this)).

As a thought, peoiple like YEM mag will have one on its site, why not take a gander for inspiration.

Hope this helps.

Thanks NooNoo, the site has been running just over two years now and all members sign up via the forum. Tends to be word of mouth thats gets people joining plus the great competitions I run :)

Thanks for that Andy, no it wasnt me that asked you before but that information you have given is very useful, now I just have to find the time to put it together!

if you have a look at the magazines on the web you will see lots of examples. But basically the media pack lets the potential advertiser know about your magazine and if it is right for them
