We have a microphone that we use for Skype. I would like to use it to record my voice and save as an MP3 file.

What programme can I use to do this?

Doesn't Windoze have something built in called Voice recorder? I'm not sure if it saves as MP3 or not though, there are plenty of free converters though that can convert from whatever file format Voice Recorder uses to MP3.

EDIT: Just found it in accessories - it's called Sound Recorder...

That works, but it saves as a WAV file.

Next question......How do you convert a Wav file into an MP3?

If you own iTunes, go into Preferences and then Import and change it to MP3 (preferably 192kbps for high-quality), select the tracks you wanat to convert and choose Advanced -> Convert selection to MP3

Oh, yes, I thought it automatically converted them for you when you imported them into iTunes.

I just changed the file extension to MP3 and it still plays in media player! Would that have worked?

Nope : )

I can convert it to a WMA file for you if that's any use.

There shoudl be free programs "out there" to convert WAV to MP3
