I have a small Ltd Co. from when I was a Draughtsman. There are no assets at all and I haven't traded since May 1st 2009. In fact I haven't worked in any capacity since then.

I have a Corp Tax bill of £4000 but no way of paying it - any money that was in the business account has been spent on some retraining.

I have written to the HMRC twice to explain my position and heard nothing. In fact I've had no correspondance from them at all regarding my bill - they've not actually demanded the money?

Should I attempt to strike off the company using the DSO1 form at companies house or just wait, do nothing and let the company be wound up by others?

To prevent any kind of bank charges, I was also going to close down my business bank account - as there is no money in there and the company doesn't owe anything other than to the HMRC!

I am in a bad enough position already - I am trying to avoid making anything worse!!

If you do nothing the Registrar will eventually strike off the company himself. If the company has no assets HMRC cannot pursue the debt, assuming the directors have not been fraudulent..
