At the moment I use my mobile to make and receive all my business calls but its not really ideal. I want to get a number but I dont want to have to get and pay for another phone line.

I know I can buy a SKYPE number for £20 for the year and make and receive calls but what other options are there?

Thanks

Toni

Sign up with Wanadoo Broadband and pay the extra £4 for the live box and get;

Wireless internet (upto 8MB)
0845 number
Free off peak telephone calls (after 6pm and weekend)

OR

Sign up with www.talktalk.com part of the carphone warehouse and pay a low monthly fee for off peak or unlimited 24 hours free phone calls.

I cant change my internet on a contract with BT at the mo and to be honest off peak is no good as most my calls are made during the day. Thanks for the suggestion though

trouble with skype is that there are only about 6 or 7 geographical area codes when you buy a number.

i'm setting up with www.voipfone.co.uk and will have a geographical (local) number which will ring through my PC. Forum member cjd is the SEO of this company, he's been really helpful for me as ive thrown god knows how many q's at him!

Ive been looking into this more and I want to be able to offer a service similar to this company:

http://www.virtualreception.co.uk/

Is it possible to do that if you work from home? Obviously I dont want to do it on a big scale, just a service I can offer to a couple of companies.

If you but the free 0845 numbers for example how do you know the call is coming through one of them and not your normal number, does anyone know?

Thanks

Yes, we do that for a similar company. It's very simple and cheap to do. PM me if you need more information

As Mark kindly says - it can be done quite easily but it can take a while to get your head round it.

There's some information about numbers here:

http://www.voipfone.co.uk/EP_UK_Telephone_Numbers.php

But you may want to read the general information section in the user manual so you get an idea what VoIP is and what it does.
