Should us business folk take more weekends off, or do you think it's a good time to get things done.

It's OK as long as you can sustain it.
It is possible to burn out or annoy your family. You need both energy and home support.
If you need to work a lot at weekends, maybe one goal in your plan would be to reduce this?
edited to say I often wonder where we would be now if we had not got four children. We would have been able to put a lot more hours into the business. But I suppose you do have to have a balance and I wouldn't be without the little bread snappers.

I get the majority of my work done at the weekend, but I agree, you do need some time to relax and unwind from a week of working.
I usually spend Sunday afternoon and evening relaxing.

I've promosed my better half from day one to never work on Sundays and so far I've managed to stick to it.

depends what you class as working, i mean it's easy to check email and for me i can't separate work from personal.
I try and keep the computer off on sundays at least until the evening anyway and saturdays it's normally only the morning and maybe a check in the evening.
For me though i don't work solid through the week so i guess theres an assumption with this topic that people are already working all week long as well as the weekend

I tend to work weekends more than I need to as my boyfriend also runs a business and always works weekends, so I figure I might as well...it's nice to be able to catch up with all those little not-urgent things, and not have the phone going off all the time.
He works weekends as he needs to to get the work done. He has expanded and got lots of new contracts but not quite to the extent that he can take on another member of staff to help him.
I do think we are sad no-lifes though and we want to stop doing it so much.

I usually work mon to friday 9 till 7 - but am on call for emergencies 24/7/365.
Emails get checked every few hours during Sat and Sunday - I have the luxury of working from a studio in my garden so theres not a PC in the house to grab my attention.

I get a lot of work done at the weekend as we don't have orders going out then, which takes up most of my time, like during the week.
But on the other hand I am free to take the weekend off if I need it or feel like it.
I think that is the best situation.

For me I had Thursday and Friday off to play in the snow and take advantage of the Winter sunshine. Today I can choose to work and get a head start for Monday morning.
Its a nice balance and I would recommend it, when it stops to be fun then you know you are doing too much and need to plan a better management of your time.

Talk about managing your time - I drew up a planner of what I wanted to get done each day - this has been in operation for 3 weeks, and have I stuck to it .... have I hell
... I am going to try and start having Sunday's off, but for some reason I always find a reason to check my emails!
