anyone know how to give ip a value and how to incorporate it into a balancesheet

we have a computer programme that earns us 50k a year ,we would like to be able to show this as a asset

What was the cost of developing the program, and how was that shown in past accounts?

im not sure it was shown in our last accounts
our accountant did not seem interested to say the least and it was a junior who did the accounts
we are in the process of moving to a new accountant and i am using this question as a tester to see what he does

the site cost around 25k to build from scratch
