can anyone tell me if they like the looks of the domain pricing? I'm trying to figgor out if I should lower them a little more to get more people interested.

Give me 1 good reason why I should choose you over say... 123-reg?

123-reg = bigger, well known, good reputation company
123-reg = cheaper.

:)


In answer to your question... your going to have to have a huge selling point or you do need to lower your pricing to compete in a very competitive market :)

I've just checked 123-reg's prices... and some prices have gone back up :p opps. Some are still cheaper though :)

Yeah, I agree with you. 123-reg have been around for a long time, but as I just checked as well..

We, as a smaller buisness.. And are cheaper on some domains like the following:

.com (£5.85 per year) .net £5.85 per year) .org (£5.65 per year) .eu (£5.75) .info (£5.50) .biz (£6.05) while 123-reg are around £9.99 per year for all LTD.

I know what your saying - but from time to time (few weeks ago) 123-reg had cracking offers on. 80pence domain names. discounted tlds.
It's a very competitive market, I just feel there no room for anymore doing this - unless you have something up your sleeve :)

Its a hard industry to crack. I would not fancy trying.

Sometimes choosing a smaller company can be better. The host i use on here get back to me quick if i have issues if i used a bigger comp it could take a day.

As for domains that could also be a plus choosin a smaller company.


But then there is godaddy, i just reg'd a .com for £4.99 today, like i say hard market to crack.

When I was looking into starting a reseller domain site, I found too much competition, too low margins.

I never did it in the end, but one of the ideas I had was to sell websites in fairly high volume on ebay, forums etc. Just basic turn key sites, nothing special...the markets changed in the few years since I was researching this, but something similar may be worth a look

I always recommend 123reg... for domains at least. They're good, get the job done and cost just a few quid.

I agree with the others' comments that 123-REG are unbeatable price-wise for .co.uk. Your .com seems very cheap though. If you can keep that price going you might do well as most UK companies seem to charge £9 or £10 at least for these. I've resorted to using a French company for .com and .net as they are much cheaper than most UK companies.

.co.uk domain for £7.50 for 2 years? Sounds a bit of the expensive side. Whenever I buy a .co.uk I pay under £6 from Heart Internet. I am sure they're not the cheapest, but I am happy with them.

Just be careful to know that the renewal fees with 123-reg are higher than the reg fees at £7.03

I understand, but without being a pain, that's the lowest I can go. I'm thinking about investing 50k into my register to get pricing under £3 for .co.uk

Not possible, unless they will make a loss on each one.

If you are spendning £50k then register yourself at nominet (for £400) and become a registrar so that you can register them directly yourself.

If you are a Nom member then they are £5.87 each for 2 years (so at £7 the other companies don't make much)

This will also give you direct control over the domains.

I do this for my UK portfolio and can update nameservers etc with an Outlook email instruction or via a web interface (Nominet Web Domain Manager).
