Hello :D
my name is Allie, I have been designing hand made cards for a number of years which I love doing, but unfortunately it will never give me much of an income, I spend more on supplies than I earn
I get involved in a wide range of crafts and I have decided to start up a business offering craft parties to children.
I am very much at the planning stage, and I am still trying to come up with a catchy name for the business that I can get my husband and two teenagers to agree with!!
I know exactly what I want to do and don't want to do, but I first need to wade through all the countless sides to the business which needs doing before I can move onto the fun stuff :D
If anyone can offer any advise to me I would appreciate it greatly, an area I am particularly struggling with at the moment is the public liability insurance side of things, ive found a lot of insurance companies don't want to get involved with anything involving children!
well that's about it about me for now, I was quite nervous about this first post :) just want to say thanks to everyone who posts on here, ive found this site to be a brilliant source of information.

Hi Allie, welcome to the band. A more diverse bunch of 'misfits' you'll not find anywhere else :-) but helpful never the less.

nope I have only dabbled in the past with 'freebie' type sites, which have looked awful and I have not gone any further as I have absolutely no knowledge in that area at all!!!

Welcome.

Why not phone a few 'competitors' as if you were a parent looking for a party and ask them about their insurance.

I think there is certainly a successful business in laying on parties.

I just gave a 'make over' party for my 7 year old and paid £10 a head for hair, nails, tattoo (fake), light makeup, they made a door hanger and were given a great party bag full of pretty hair things.

a bargain and the kids loved it. Taz has also been to a craft party and that was a massive success too.

so good luck with your plans. Do the figures carefully, make sure you give out plenty of leafltes at the end of the party to ensure repeat business in that area and you are onto a winner
