Was reading something last night about affiliate marketing, do you think its a good idea to allow other website/blog owners to promote my website for a fee on either a pay per click basis or a "fill in a form" basis. Theres a website called commission junction where you can list your site etc and if people are interested they promote it and you pay them commission.

DDo you think my site is the sort that could benefit from this? And do you think anyone would want to market it in the first place?

Now i know you have to manually approve publishers so getting somebody who uses dodgy tactics isnt really a problem as i can keep a close eye on it.

Any one have any experience in this or any general feedback?

Affiliate marketing is an excellent way to promote products and services as you only pay when you get a conversion. Make sure that if you are using an affiliate network like commision junction to take into consideration their fees. They will add what is called an override fee which is typically 30% on top of what you pay your affiliates. There may also be a licence fee to use their service. Affiliate marketing using a network is hugely beneficial as you have instant access to thousands of affiliates and you get technical support with all the tracking.

Yours isn't really the right kind of business for affiliate marketing.

First of all you are limited by area, second you are limited by time and man power.

BG Homecare or something like that is good for affiliate marketing as it is nationwide but I wouldn't think you would have many people queuing up to promote a local plumber.
