Own It (http://www.own-it.org), the intellectual property advice service for London's creative people, is staging a networking event, called ‘Happy Together – Sharing Your Creativity And Making New Friends’. (See all Own It Events at http://www.own-it.org/events.)

This Own It event at Turnmills, London is for creative types who are collaborating, sharing creative ideas or want to use someone else’s. The event will bring to life the new “share it” section of the Own It website (http://www.own-it.org/ipinfo/ipinfo_shareit) and the new world of sharing intellectual property. It will cover how to make money when you share your intellectual property, including the open rights, creative ideas bank and creative commons initiatives.

This is also the launch of Own It’s networking night. More info here: http://www.own-it.org/events/details/?eventId=146&p=1. The event runs from 6-8pm, but from 8pm onwards, attendees are invited to stay on for drinks and creating relationships.

This event costs £15.00. Places are allocated on a first come, first served basis. Book here: http://www.own-it.org/members/book_event.asp?eventId=146

Speakers include Hugh Mason, Partner, Pembridge Partners LLP, a business accelerator for creative industries, who will talk about The Creative Ideas Bank, an IP bank where members belong to a partnership that they can assign and license intellectual property rights from.

Peter Crawshaw from Lovereading Ltd will also discuss how he has a specific agreement with publishers, authors and illustrators to achieve a free distribution of their intellectual property whereby readers can download approximately 10 - 15 pages of the featured books

Lee Gage, IP solicitor at Harbottle and Lewis LLP, will talk about collaboration from a legal point of view, what needs to be in place on shared projects, how does Creative Commons work, the “Open” movement and what happens about the IP when a shared business is sold or when the partnership is no longer a happy one.

Finally, Christian Ahlert of Open Business will discuss innovative business modes, ideas and tools to sharing IP.
