Hi there,

I wonder if anyone can tell me the best way to go about making a complaint about a French website which is using one of my websites logos and declaring themselves a member of my Business Network - without our agreement or authorisation?

Ive done the obvious and emailed them but no response. Ive researched their hosting agent - Do hosting agents have any responsibility for the websites actions who host with them?

I hope someone can shed some light on this,

Many thanks

Anita

This template may help:

I would send a copy to them and also to their hosing company :)

Not really much you can do here. Unless they agree to take it down I think you will go round in circles for a long time!

The host has no real obligation to take it down and most hosts won't get involved in personal wranglings (your word against theirs type stuff).

Personally I would forget about it unless it is really affecting your business in which case go down the legal route, but that will time consuming and costly.

Tell Google and Yahoo about it and your claim, they will remove them from their search engines

No they won't.

If Google and Yahoo got involved every time someone went to them and complained about a website, there wouldn't be any! They will do nothing without substantial proof and will more than likely see this as a small claim that you could sort out yourself.

Not trying to be negative, but I have seen this before and there really is not much you can do other than to ask that they remove it.

In my experience this is not necessarily true. I reported a Pakistani company that was stealing the copy from one of my websites to their hosting company (also in Pakistan). I provided all the evidence that was needed and they closed the site down.
