JK,
The sadistic side of me wants to simply say, "to journalists"... the nicer side of me is more helpful though.
What is your product and release hook and between our collective PR media might on here I am sure we can all come up with some good contacts and suggestions to help out.

But who are you targeting? What are you selling?
You could send a press release to What Car? magazine but if your company specialises in HR solutions for charities then this will be unlikely to give you any benefit.

What are you hoping to achieve with the press releases? Posting them on online wires will certainly help you build links back to your website, but it will rarely result in great media coverage. On the other hand, sending the releases to a targetted list of journalists and editors may do (depending on the press release, of course!)

www.mediauk.com is a good start. Search directory in bottom left of screen.
Like the other responses - what's your market? Consumer? trade? men? women? children? family etc.
To whet your appetite .. a real pro will put you can touch with health and beauty correspondents in the nationals and named correspondents in many - if not all all - of the following
(there's a few random ones here - couldn't be bothered sifting through) ....

Oh, I don't know, most people seem to do it that way. :) :o
In fact, if you don't know who you are selling to, how do you run a business?
Again .... :)
It's what I've named "back-to-front" marketing.
You decide to use a particular advertising medium (in this case PR) before you work out what message you want to get across or who you want to say it to.
What happens? You spend a lot of your time, money and effort putting a non-message in front of people who are never going to buy from you.
JK, go back to your boss and find out what the business is trying to achieve with its marketing.

this is the thing im not writing the press, im just posting it.
Well, I'm going to guess one of 3 things...
(1) The person who wrote it never thought about who it was for.
(2) They knew who it was directed at, but didn't bother telling you.
(3) They knew who they were aiming at and have already sent it to those sources and now want you to throw a lot of stuff up against the wall in the hope that something might stick.
It might be worth your time finding out which of those is true.

The following advice articles are available at http://www.pressdispensary.co.uk/press_release_hints_and_tips.php
How to write a press release
When to send a press release
Contacting the media
If you use the search box on the home page at www.pressdispensary.co.uk you might find similar press releases, to give you an idea.
Points to bear in mind if you're considering using a press release service;
- Ensure they're strong on editorial and vet every release (we're yet to receive one that doesn't require at least some tweaking!). If your copy has mistakes or is written in the wrong structure/format, journalists will simply bin it.
- That they send releases directly and individually addressed to each journalist, and that the release appears to have come from you (so you're establishing your own relationships with journalists). In the US, distribution is predominantly by newswires but this isn't yet the case in the UK.
- That your news is syndicated to news aggregators and online news sites, such as Google News, Yahoo! News, etc. This helps with links to your site and wider distribution. It also means people can find your release via key word searches on major search engines.
- That the press list covers freelance journalists.
Free sites, or sites that only distribute to a list of opt-in journalists, are unlikely to reach the exact journalists you are trying to target. And beware of distributors that use a scatter-gun approach, sending your release to thousands of journalists. If it's not relevant news to the individual journalists, it's considered spam!
