I can't explain how angry I am, so I won't even try......
But, I have an urgent problem, anyone help?
I've received an email with our accounts (SAGE) as an attachment. I have SAGE on my computer. I've downloaded the attachment (into My Documents). I can't open the attachment as it's saying it's not supported or the email hasn't been decoded properly.
Please tell me how I should open it as I'm non techy. I guess I should somehow download it into SAGE but I dont know how....
So much for going to a new accountant to sort out the previous book keepers mess

Hi,
Can you let us know the file extension? Example myattachment.blabla
Note: You do not need to specify exactly the name of the attached file, only interested on the extension

Shouldn't your new accountant be dealing with this?

Hi
The file is .zip
The new accountant.......who hasn't done any of the accounts since November and out VAT is due on Tuesday.......

a zip file should just open in windows explorer - it contains other files inside it. Failing that visit www.winzip.com
I'd be very worried about this new accountant if I were you. When I transferred from my old accountant (probably related to your new one) to Alan at Alpha, he dealt with liasing with the old accountant to get the data from them.
Consider finding accountant #3.
Wherebouts in Essex are you? Joy and Co are a member and come highly recommended by other memebers here - they are based in Ilford. Give them a call to see if they can help.
It's not going to be the end of the world if your VAT return is a week late - especially not if you have always been on time in the past.

ok, first you need to unzip the file first.
1 Download winzip
2. Right click and open with Winzip

Hi
Will try to open it in IE... i opened it via my AOL email.
The handover was done this morning to accountant no. 3........ a cardboard box given by his wife as he was too ill to answer any questions. Two hours journey to have the handover....

I can always open zip files... The usual PDF page came up when I downloaded and then opened the file (tried to open). That's when it said it either couldn't be supported or the email hadn't been decoded properly. I guess I need to know how to load it into Sage??

I'm not sure what you mean about the usual PDF page.
You wont be able to import a zip file directly into Sage - it needs to be extracted first. It could be that it genuinely is corrupted - might be worth asking for it to be resent.

I've had a look at this for Hayles. The problem I dont think is with the files and what Hayley really needs is someone who knows sage inside out to talk her through loading on a backup file.
Sadly I know nothing about sage apart from the awful support queues so if anyone can help hayles out please get in touch with her.

Probably the file is corrupt. Save the file to another media e.g. USB memory key, floppy or CD and then try to open it on another computer if you have access to a second computer.
