Now im always confused with adwords and adsense...
Which is the ads to the right of google?
And which are the ads from google on other peoples sites?
Anyway, I think you will find your answer will depend on the keyword type.

Hi Tony,
Are talking about a good conversion from click to sale?
If so, the best we have achieved for a financial company was 6 clicks to an [short] app, but only 1 app in 20 went to fruition. So, in effect it was 120:1.
There are many factors that can get in the way of conversion. PM me if you like.
Best wishes
Rob

this is a whole area i am confused by as well. Mainly cos there are no industry average stats out there.
I guess it is hard to have accurate measures and stats as the sale always depends on the users experience of the site they are clicking through to?
I would really like to hear about others experiences of using google ads.

I'd suggest to speak with Rob at topclick, I have been doing work with him for a a while now and I have had great results. Certainly made more than I have spent by 10/1

Traditionally 0.5% has been the accepted minimum; 1.0% is some what typical. However theirs is no fixed numbers for this and every tenth of a point improvement you get by strengthening your copy brings you more visitors.
3% is what I consider to be a pretty good message-to-market match. You can achieve CTR's of 15% or better when the text in the ad is a precise match to the question the user types into a search engine.
Refer to the URL below which maybe of help. I answered a question Claire asked, in the Internet/IT forum on here.

Hi (and thanks Michael, its easy to get good results from adwords when the company you are advertising has a great site, offering and proven results - so it's as much down to you!).
Just to clarify, there are two sets of conversion metric when talking about adwords - conversion of impressions to clicks AND clicks to sale/order/enquiry/other + measurement.
Impressions to clicks ratio. You can still have your ads seen irrespective of the CTR (click through rate - perdcentage of impressions needed to get a click) this can be anything from 0% to 100%. See for more detail

Unfortunately there is no standard or typical CTR as the industry you are in, copy you write, demand for your product means everyones experience if different.
BUT, the more important conversion factor is clicks to sales (or other metric). Again, this can be any figure from 0% to 100%. Tracking codes put in place will tell you which keywords and ads are converting best into sales - so, you may have an ad that is giving you 100% CTR - which never converts to a sale - and conversely, an ad which has a 1% CTR which provides you with hundreds of sales.
SO,...don't get too hung up on CTR (although if you follow the link above, it can have an impact on the CPC's! - far too many TLA's for me today).
Make sense?
If not, gimme a buzz,
Rob
