Data capture & registering detals on a website

Hi

Can anyone advise on the easiest or most effective way of capturing information about visitors to my sitewww.appointdirect.com I only really need a name and email address so that we can send out a newsletter and useful information on a weekly and monthly basis. We receive a lot of visitors to our site but many do not register as the process isa quite long and only relevent if you are seriously looking for staff or work. I think many would benefit from a newsletter and industry updates but i'm not sure about how best to start building the database up.

What are the views on pop up windows and are there any other options anyone can think of?

I would avoid popups in all honesty. What you need is a little box near the top of each page saying:

Register for our newsletter
Name:
Email:
Submit

That's all you need. The less you requre the more people are likely to sign up.

I agree with matt - sometimes an incentive helps, sometimes it's seen as too gimicky - depending on your audience.

would be really easy to understand and should get people signing up for info however, is there any software that can be used to organise and work this data once its captured? (pref free) Does the software you recomend in your PM do everything for me Rob? We currently capture everything in a PHP MySQL database that I have acces too through a seperate control panel but I really don't want to create lots of work for the developers...
