View Full Version : Portfolio style web template/service?

Not sure how many 'creatives' are here but I thought I'd ask if anyone would recommend their website designer or template provider for an art website? I currently design and maintain my own site but have (finally!) decided to let go of that for something cleaner and above my own coding abilities. I've spent too many years doing my own website and need to let go of that, prioritising my time! So a complete 'package' type service appeals to me, where I just control the content.

I really like otherpeoplespixels.com and it's 95% of what I need - I just need a few more pages and features. Here's my trial site with them (rough content, just playing with it still) http://tmammo.otherpeoplespixels.com/ so you can see an idea.

I need primarily a portfolio, with 3 or so text info pages, no Flash, Paypal buttons in GBP ideally (OPP is in USD but I could live with that).

Most templates or services I'm finding have templates that visually 'immature' for lack of a better word (table based), and that kind of thing I can do myself. ;)

So tell me if you love a site or service and would recommend it! Thanks.

Have you thought of using Wordpress. Wordpress is great for these types of sites.

Hello there Mr Cycling Artist :)

"I've spent too many years doing my own website and need to let go of that, prioritising my time" - it's not often enough that you get people with that insight; nice one!

If you fancy a fast to deploy, fully integrated website that creates leads straight in your contact system, and also allows you to manage your expenses, invoices etc, then we may just have the perfect solution. My girlfriend's an artist (www.rosesanderson.com) and manages her site and finances in Brightpearl too.

Shout if you have questions!
Chris

Thanks for the replies guys (and a few private messages). I've overcome the few obstacles with otherpeoplespixels, through their help and a few emails to current services I use. So I've decided to go with them for now.

Chris - it's a really hard decision to let go of total creative control! But I know it needs to be done. Had a look at the Brightpearl site and will keep it in mind and mention it to some other UKers, though I don't think it's quite what I need yet.

sd - I also know a lot of artists who want a blog-based portfolio! (I don't) So I'll pass on your link too.

Tina.

I can recommend Bright Pearl's system.

Worked with it a few times.

I too would recommend Bright pearl for an easy to use system.
