Hi All,

I signed up for yell.com last year and I'm expecting a call from a salesman this week to try and get me to sign up to another year. They have said they throw in the 118 directory listing and an SEO page for an extra £37, although the SEO page they made me last year was clearly template driven and rubbish.

I know yell.com feature highly on google search results and as my website is listed on yell.com that has a positive affect to my site listing (am I correct?) is it worth re-newing? They want £370+vat plus the £37+vat if I want 118, or should I just put the £300 into adwords?

I'm sure most of you guys have opinions on yell!

Many Thanks

Mike

Ive had nothing but hassle from these guys. They can swivel if they think they are getting my money.

Would someone really use 118 for CAD Solutions? I know I wouldn't. Their SEO pages are templates and offer nothing exciting IMHO

I did question 118 as I would never use them, but you know what salesmen are like!!

Its just the google ranking I'm concerned about...

I would say save your cash. What ROI would you need to get to justify that charge?

Probably 2 good jobs would pay for it.

Don't worry about the SEO benefits

If you are attracted by the idea that Yell rank well on Google, put the money into adwords and rank higher than Yell for your chosen keywords.

If ranking in Google is what you are after, it's a good plan, trying to do it via Yell is flawed thinking.

Good move on ditching Yell, just be firm and say no when they call up otherwise they will call and call and call and call (i learned this from experience)

You would be better off adding a free Google Local Listing and spending that cash on some adwords linked to a great copywritten on-page SEO'd landing page, i guarantee you will see a better response than yell.

Quite agree!

I feel Yellow pages will left behind in years to come. Advertising has changed so much.

Google trust yell when calculating your google local but you only need your address you can get that for free.

I bet f you paid the money on seo you could rank first pages for your term.
