I thought I'd pass on this information to anyone who has a SEO agency working on their behalf and managing Adwords on their behalf.
I have just handled the takeover from an agency where they handed back to my client the Adwords account, where they billed the client once a month, and the agency paid Google as part of the MCC (My Client Centre) managed accounts agreement.
In advance of the day when we regained full maintenance of Adwords I asked no less than 5 times for full reassurance our Adwords would not stop running and that it would be easy to switch accounts. The agency repeatedly reassured me saying they would simply unlink themselves from our account and to pay we simply had to enter credit card details as usual.
Having not worked alongside an agency before, I accepted their advice, but still felt dubious.
Imagine my surprise when the day came (yesterday) and our Ads stopped running and we couldn't enter credit card details as you have to imform Google you are changing the type of account back to post pay.
Google take 24 hours to process this change.
3-4 days if you pay by standing order.
Our ads have only started running again an hour ago, we have full access and history, everything transferred across fine. We were down for 30 hours.
The rep at Google I spoke to said I should have called 3 days in advance so that this situation could have been avoided.
So, anyone out there using an agency to manage your adwords with this MCC agreement, when you part ways telephone Google in advance, they are immensely helpful and on the ball.
