Hi,

I've just had a strange phone call. A lady just rang and asked if I had a building for second hand furniture. I asked her what sort of property she was after and she said again for second hand furniture, nothing else just that. It then went quiet, so I said have you got the internet to look at what I had for sale and she just put the phone down on me

I'd like to point out, she rang me.

Has anyone else had this sort of call, as it's new to me. Should I be worried that the word internet scared her away!

This is becoming a problem with Yell: they didn't have a section for me and they've put me in with estate Agents, now I'm getting funny phone calls.

Sounds strange Jayne, mind you I'm used to getting funny phone calls! A customer of mine was buying a doll before Xmas. She asked if we could hurry up and send it to her as she had all her presents under the tree for her to open, and new clothes for her to try on. Hubby said I should have asked her to send the pressies to us so dolly could open them in our house!

That's spooky, it's hard to believe that people can really be like this. Bet that lady talks to the dolls too, it's like a creepy horror movie. I hope there heads don't start spinning round

I don't like dolls and clowns much, too creepy.

I blame it on all those chucky doll films in the eighties

I know. Some of the dolls are sooooo realistic too, we have one doll for £950! It keeps making me jump as I catch a glimpse of it and think its the baby

Nigel, would you believe these are not to be played with! They are collectables. The £950 doll is a one of a kind hand sculpted doll, there are some dolls that go for four grand with a 5 year waiting list!! Think yourself lucky you are not married to a woman who collects one of a kinds

Well talking of which....my mum used to collect them. I say used to because now they are sitting in a box ready for display on Ebay or an auction. She has a couple that she paid over £600 for !

Now they creep her out just as much as they did when I was a kid. Strange how people change their tastes like that !

but to go back to your phone call, dont worry Jayne. For the first 4 months of our company we often got calls asking to speak to the Port master ! Turns out our phone number was 1 digit different from theirs. They were getting calls all the time asking for website quotes !

Im sure there was probably another reason for the call.

Like for example the other day I had a client phone me, we had a chat, then after I put the phone down I thought 'sh*t, I didnt ask who they were! DOH!' - I can't ring up and say ''umm sorry, who are you again?''
I'm gonna get my gf (coz im a wimp) to ring them up and ask who they are.

Is there not like an online directory that tracks a telephone number to a business? I think I read somehwere about that before
