does using a contact form on your website mean the emal is more likely to get through to you. A client this morning sent me an email that bounced back to him and I use just an ordinary email link within my text etc.

It should not make any difference really, as the contact form results will just be forwarded to your specified email address. Sometimes you may get a soft bounce if your inbox is full etc.

I'd say there is a really good chance that the contact form would be more reliable than regular email in terms of delivery.
Would need more details IRO your anti-spam setup to be sure, but on the face of it the contact form is one point you can whitelist, as opposed to (the impossibility of) whitelisting anyone who might want to email you.
The downside of the contact form is that you might end up with a lead that you cannot respond to (because the sender forgot to add contact details, or mis-typed an email address)

If was a Spam false positive. Why did it bounce?

thats interesting, I wonder if other things are at play like forms mean more structured/ efficient businesses therefore more likely to come back to you?

Yes using a form on a website most certainly enhances the deliverability of client messages. In fact when done properly it is the only way to be sure that you get all your messages without also having to deal with incredible amounts of spam.
Users email can be filtered by a companies email/internet provider etc. This will not happen when the email is being sent directly from the company server. Matt1959 also touched on another good point and that is the format tends to be more structured thereby aiding the business in dealing with enquiries.

How exactly are you sending the email?
What headers are you setting when sending the email?
Is the email going to an email address on your domain or one provided for free like hotmail, yahoo, gmail etc?
