View Full Version : Name Ideas Needed

I am about to create a simple seperate site selling just single personalised roses.
I want to brand it differently to rosesbydesign.com
The whole idea is to allow customers to purchase a single rose and add a message on to the rose petal - simple as that! So the site will sell single roses only.
Anyone got any ideas for a brand / domain name
Design A Rose?
Send a rose
Message on a rose?
I want to split the buying process into steps
e.g
1. Select your rose colour
2. Select your message for the petal
3. Select your packaging / presentation
4 payment

Only You Roses?
My Petal?

or, A Rose by Design?

What about
UniqueRose
or
OneRose
I would be careful about brainstorming domain names on forums though. Someone did this on another one that I use and some other scumball went ahead and registered the domain name before him after seeing it there !

A rose for the lady?
Why not refer back to all the names we suggested before?

Hi Jacqui,
Yes, Thanks for the warning.
Just want a few ideas.
I own some domains already, so just seeing if you guys have any better ideas...
I was trying to make the name quite descriptive
Maybe like
Message on a rose or something.

I don't think the descriptive name would work too well. Make it short and sweet. I like Jacquis OneRose.

Hey Silly Jokes,
How do I find the 3 month old thread were people helped suggest a name last time?
What do you guys think of designarose or design-a-rose

If its a choice between the 2 I prefer designarose

Yep, I think that works. I'm still leaning toward the OneRose idea, though. 2 words will be more memorable and show itself as a company name, rather than an activity.

OneRose is already taken in .com and .co.uk
I already own
DESIGN-A-ROSE.CO.UK
DESIGN-A-ROSE.COM
DESIGNAROSE.CO.UK
DESIGNAROSE.COM
and
PERSONALISEDROSES.COM
Design-A-Rose just sound very similar to RosesbyDesign what do you think...
Say it on a rose?

The problem with Say it on a rose is that it will look like
sayitonarose.co.uk
when written and its not very clear and memorable.

"Solerose" or "Soulrose"
If your server gets really busy and slows down, you can divert people to "waitrose".

Your right Ravenfire. Also I would try not to use more than one article between the words. Thats why im not keen on designonarose.co.uk for example.
But thats just my opinion and I dont mean to cause offence to anyone who has that in their domain name !!

Jacqui at Creacom is right - brainstorming names on an open forum can be dangerous. I'd suggest you ask people to PM or email you instead.

Looked at domain sites and a great one that is available is;
www.buyonerose.co.uk
Very simple, to the point and explains in the name what exactly the site is about.

Personally, I think you will be much better served in the long run by a 'brand' domain name rather than a 'keyword' one. From a visitor point of view, the shorter, more memorable and unique the name you choose the better.
People equate search with Google just as they equate flowers with Interflora, so my suggestion would be to think of a quirky, but memorable name instead!

I believe that in the long run people remember novel names better and they are easier to protect too - but a novel name can still say something meaningful about the product, like InterFlora or UniRose for example.

I think the names with a '-' in them tend to be harder to remember than straight forward ones.

I agree - the ideal is probably a name that does both - a product orientated, keyword friendly name :)

Definitely - if you own buy-roses.com and somone else owns buyroses.com, a proportion will undoubtedly end up at the wrong site. But in the short term it depends on how you acquire visitors - if they click links to get you then it really doesn't matter what name you use. However, in the long run, it's the short names that stick.

New to this thread, so sorry if these are repeats.
"onerose" is short and memorable (and available). "writerose" and "write-rose" say what it is about and have a pun to help memory..
