I want to offer a download to customers thats password protected, eg each file has it's own password that I can change whenever, so a customer can only download the file I give them the url/password to, and I can change the password every week or so to stop it being published anywhere, I've got a 15mb single upload limit on my hosting and some 300 5-200mb files,
if anyone knows of any third party sites or solution I'd really appreciate it :)

You can also zipping the file and putting a password on the rar file. seems easier.

After your customer has successfully purchased your product through paypal, you will then be redirected back to a secure page with the download link to the purchased file. The customer will also automatically receive an email with the download link. The link is only active for one hour and can be reactivated with the Admin Control Panel. The administrator can login, and add, edit, and view products, export customers as a .csv, and more. You dont need to worry anymore about hackers stealing your electronic products with this secure PayPal Download Manager....

It is sensible to give people more than one hour to download especially as card processing can take time to confirm funds therefore meaning the user may get the email a few hours after putting in their card details so in the middle of the night.

It is certainly possible for each customer to be given a unique URL to download the file and for you to then limit downloads by time and/ or number of times (eg they have 1 week to download it and can only download it 3 times) before the link dies.

Depending on what your product is, you will have to factor in dealing with people who have accidently deleted the file or their hard drive has died etc 6 months later wanting to get another copy.
