Ok i'm having problems with my laptop and i have done all the spyware, virus checks etc. I have now tried system restore but it won't bring up the restore screen so i can't do it. Is there any other way to system restore before i go for a full reboot of the system.
cheers

Hi Taz
What sort of problems are you having? A full reboot is a real pita as you lose everything on there and everything has to be reinstalled.
Is it Windows XP that you are using?

windows xp and everything is slow and jittery. I have done all the spyware, virus checks.
I just cant get the restore screen or even alt, control, delete.
I have everything ready to be backed up and re installed if need be.

Have you tried turning off, rebooting then trying to see if you can get to system restore?
Not sure what you have used before but Trend Micro is one of the best for finding anything nasty on your system and its free to use online.
When you do control, alt delete is it because you are trying to get up the task manager?

Not sure if you are aware but if you right click on the bar at the bottom you should get a list up and be able to click on task manager from there. You will then be able to see what you have in your startup menu that could be causing the problem.

I would reboot and then make that the first thing you try to see if that helps at all.

How about going into run then msconfig then see what programmes are starting up when you turn on. Maybe you could eliminate by turning some of them off?

i have done that and only have the basics running which is virus software etc
managed a restore and complete clean up but the problem persists.
I have now noticed a similar issue on the desktop, maybe its our home network.

i notice you have reported similar issues with your network connection.
could i point out that if you are trying to access files within your network then this could also caue similar issues.
Perhaps it might be best to sort out the issues you are having with the wireless router first, then look at your system second. See if one corrects the other :-)
