Hi All
I am trying to think of some idea's where I can sell products etc that are not common in the UK. As I live in Switzerland I think there could be a matrket on the internet for me to sell swiss products. The one thing I thought of would be to sell the Swiss Fondue Cheese so I'd like to ask 2 questions on this subject:
1) Do you own a fondue set?
2) If you do can you easily buy Swiss fondue cheese from your supermarket??
and another question I would like to ask is:
1) Is there a Swiss product you'd like to have but can't get it in the UK?
Your feedback would be much appreciated.
Cheers
Chris

Hi Callum
The fondue set you have for chocolate is not suitable for the cheese so you'd have to get a different fondue set. I just looked on e-bay and there aren't many on there so it's definately something I could do but then again not many people looked on the sets that are on there. Is there any e-bay tricks on how to get people to look at your item??

I've got a cast iron fondue that does killer chocolate or cheese fondues. I can also buy a Swiss cheese fondue cheese/wine mix thing at Tescos.
I would say that fondues have a bit of a naff 70s reputation at the moment...people think the idea is a bit 'cheesy' (parden the pun) but then enjoy it when it's in front of them.
Perhaps you could re-invent the fondue in some way for the 21st century.

hi Chris,
I had a Swiss flatmate who was very particular about the cheese he used in his fondue. Personally, since he left, I have been just as happy with Emmenthal and Gruyere. Sorry for being a heathen ::oops::
This may sound naff, but what about looking at a Swiss expat site? Selling stuff like FC Basel programmes and scarves to overseas swizzles? Have seen that work for a number of nationalities.

I don't wish to appear negataive, but this Swiss cheese idea seems full of holes.

Hi Chris,
So......
Yes I do own a fondue set - cheese one. Infact I have 3 ! My boyfriend is French, my business partner is French, most of my family go on holiday to France etc etc etc... I cant escape it !
BUT I hate cheese especially French cheese and anything that smells.
I know Emmental and Gruyere they are Swiss. I know a few others too. We can find them in the supermarkets up here in the North of Scotland quite easily.
The one Swiss product that I cant find there is chocolate with Chartreuse in it. Now that is good and if you set up a shop just selling that I will buy one from you every week !
Could you not do it the other way ? Sell British products to the Swiss and ex pats over there ?

I have a fondue set and the one thing I find hard to buy are the crystal/gel packets to burn under it.
I'd be up for some authentic cheese if you can match tescos price.

Hi All
Thanks for your feedback. I think that maybe selling the cheese isn't a good idea but maybe the chocolates would be much better. I am going to shop around and get some prices.
cheers for the feedback anyway and keep the idea's coming :D
