Hi there,

Although I have used a couple of 'off the self' carts, I have tended to write my own code as I find this more flexible.

However a client has asked for a specific task to be done with an 'off the shelfer'.

What I need to know is anyone using a cart that offers multiple hierachial adminstration users.

ie, you can have an admin that can login. get the order data and mark the order despatched. In addition the ability to print a packing label and invoice are required.

My gut feeling is that I am going to have to write a bespoke order management system on top of a current cart but lets see what you guys and gals are using.

Thanks in advance.

Hmm - not heard of that option on any of the OTS carts we've used / installed

I'd go bespoke if I were you ... it'll give you more flexibility in the end rather than trying to cram on a solution to a package that just isn't up to it.

Good luck!

Its fairly common on e-commerce systems i've used. You can try Uniwin or Cactushop but they're complete e-com solutions.

OSCommerce will handle what you ask. You will just have to customise the login script to suit your needs. This seems far simpler than writing a completely bespoke system.

Another option would be to use a single logon for the cart and present an additional front end logon for the user hierarchy. You could then hold the front end logon to restrict administration options.

I would recommend OScommerce for a full blown ecommerce system.
If it's just the shopping basket then romancart is great and it has all the order management and despatch options that you require.
Romancart acts as the checkout and is updated throughout the order process by posts from your web site. It's great if you want to seperate your web site from your payment system, but it allows you to make them look and feel the same.

Cheers
