Hi there,
I need a good marketing agency who would be able to work with us to provide us with advice on how best to market.
Most marketing agencies concentrate on helping build a website but what I am looking for is someone to help with the general know-how and be able to provide us with how to write a good brochure and not just designing websites.
Any suggestions ???
Kind Regards

I can help you with this sort of thing, whether directly or by passing you over to a couple of marketing agencies I work with.

Hi Amit,
What marketing requires is:
message to market match, delivered in the right medium
Or, put another way - a persuasive message, an effective strategy, and a timetable of specific actions that generate results.
I had a quick look at your website. It looks to me as though your webdesigners have got you to create your message to fit in with their design constraints. WRONG WRONG WRONG!!!!
Design is the outfit that clothes your message. What sells? When you sit down in front of a would-be customer, do they buy because of the suit you're wearing, or because what you say persuades them that they're making a good choice by buying from you? So why spend the lion's share of the budget on design which merely enhances the selling effort, but doesn't actually do any selling? That's like paying the tea lady more than the sales people. Sure, they'd keel over without their caffeine fix, but she doesn't actually generate revenue, does she?
Currently your message seems to be all about you, and not about me as the potential customer.
I'd suggest you hire someone who understands the issues of small businesses, knows how to create persuasive communication (copy), and who can help you identify, locate and reach you niche market.
And that's obviously me, but I would say that, wouldn't I!!
Good luck with it,
Jane

Amit,
Go to your local Business Link, not something I say very often :)
But, they have a list of 'registered' consultants, to get on that list you need to pass a few tests and have insurance just in case the advice you give loses the client money.
So, get the list and call some local consultants, get them to come and see you, don't do it over the phone or online, get details of exactly what difference their work has made to others, get references and call them.
Finally, before you make a choice ask the guy at Business Link to help you out with the cost, most of them have budgets to do just that.
When you approach Business Link tell them you are an established business that wants to grow - the magic words they want to hear is that your growth will add jobs - do this and they can find all sorts of things to throw your way.
I know it sounds like working the system, and it is, but the system stinks and unless you know how to work it you get nothing.

This depends on the region! and is not standard UK wide.

That is correct it is England only, but I think Amit is in London - I think Scotland is still working on the old boys network theory, but there again I'm not involved in the enterprise work here in Scotland so not sure, but there was an interesting report http://thescotsman.scotsman.com/index.cfm?id=1323502003 regarding Scottish Enterprise and there use of consultants.

Hey Amit,
I like your product! You importing from India or China?
As regards a marketing agency, I think you need to be fairly certain about what you are looking for first.
Are you looking for someone to research and tell you what your market is?
Do you need them to analyse that market and contact them for you?
Do you need them to develop the materials to contact that market?
Do you need them to follow up on it.
Once you are clear about exactly what you want from them you will find it easier to select one. If you don't have a firm idea what you want you could end up drifting. Marketing gets you from A to B, but if you don't know where B is then they'll drive you all over the place like london cabbie ;)
