I don't have a fax machine, but need to send faxes to my new supplier.

If your computer has Windows XP then you have a fax built in - just plug your modem into a phone line, configure the fax and you're ready to go. You can even fax direct from a Word document.

Hi Mark,

The fax on XP is probably the best bit of the whole OS in my opinion.
Once activated you have multiple ways to send a fax it really is good and makes use of that old modem connection you don't need now!

Yes - you can fax from any program, even your internet browser!

First of all you need to set up faxing:

Open the Control Panel from the Start menu and then select Printers and Faxing. On the left hand side there are a few options, including Set up Fax. Click that and after a few seconds the fax appears in your list of printers.

Then you can fax from whatever program you like - go File, Print and select the fax from the printer drop down list and it launches the fax wizard. Just follow the instructions and off you go.
