Hi all,

sorry for not being around for a couple of days, but got whacked by the flu.

Anyway, a couple of weeks ago I threw together a quick redesign for RingtoneSearchEngine.com with an eye to porting the original code in, with a rewrite, to get it running as a PPC search engine specifically for ringtones.

Now with the benefit of 2 days bathed in sweat, I return to the PC with a fresh set of eyes and just happen to see that the ringtone sales have gone up recently. Why, weell when checking google it loks like 'ringtone search engine' returns ringtonesearchengine.com in 4th place and a number of other searchs pick up this site in ther results.

So with a good ranking place, should be number 1 by the time I sort out keywords etc, this site has moved up my priority list as ones to develop further and push harder.

I would just like to know how you guys and gals buy ringtones, if you do and what would you expect from a search engine devoted to ringtones.

I haven't yet bought a ringtone but have I spent time looking.

The sites I liked looking at asked me what my phone was and only showed me ringtones suitable for my phone, which helps if the user doesn't know if their phone has polyphonic ringtones.

I also liked being able to choose the genre of ringtone - e.g. 60's, 70's, 80's, pop, etc. and also by artist.

Another good feature was to be able to search by any special offers.

I dislike having to sign up or register just to be able to browse.

Hope that helps.

Do mature people running their own business actually buy ringtones?. . . I thought they were only for kids :)

Or for mature people running their own business who want a specific type or style of ringtone. I got a great ringtone that sings "Ring, ring, ring" on the last phone I bought and I like the idea of having a distinctive ringtone.

For business reasons I am currently carrying two mobile phones (this could increase to three) and I need different ringtones for each phone. I want ringtones that I not only recognise as mine but that I also enjoy hearing. Some of the ringtones included with phones are just not for me.

Working in the telecom industry, I can tell you this is really big business. Sure, the youth market is the biggest, but others buy ringtones too.

FYI, the US is way behind when it comes to wireless services. In my opinion, the ringtone market will grow strongly here in 2006. Can you apply lessons learned from Europe to the US market?

Also, are you familiar with ring-back tones? This is music played to your callers instead of the boring double-ring. This market is about to explode.

Thanks for the comments so far,

some useful titbits, the US is way behind and again this is a driver to develop.
I have been involved in this market, to varying degrees, since its conception and agree that ringtones are ageless, although you have a much greater purchase rate for teens.

Any other comments suggestions are welcome, also if you are selling tones, let me know how you currently advertise and whether a dedicated cpc ringtone search engine would eb of interest.
