Vidahost (http://my.vidahost.com/aff.php?aff=540) are excellent - I have a couple of sites with them and am about to move another site to them in the next few days.

Tech support is very good - earlier this week I asked them a question (using their ticketing system) about possible support for a future site and received a comprehensive answer within 30 mins.

There are other good hosts, but these get my vote!

I have reseller accounts at
http://www.webhosting.uk.com/
Quite cheap and very reliable. Support is OK but not brilliant

http://www.unitedhosting.co.uk/
Costs a bit more but support is very good

Two other hosts I've never dealt with but always get good review are
http://www.clook.co.uk/
and
http://www.vidahost.com/

Avoid the ones who advertise a lot and are cheap - 1&1 and 123REG, etc
The odd few quid you'll save soon vanishes when your site is down for a week and your emails don't get answered.

I'm sure you'll get plenty of other recommendations - just be wary of people who recommend themselves :)

You'll also get some stick for using frontpage - don't take any notice. I started off using it - we weren't all born expert web developers :)

Who's saying they should?
Some of us don't actually try and sell web hosting - we only give honest opinions on the hosts we use.

Was just saying, if they're a host and they're making a recommendation then they're not likely to recommend someone else so the advice to be wary of anyone who promotes themselves is somewhat flawed.

We recommend Open Minded, DWebs and CSNewMedia

I find the customer service at justhost good - if you email a query they reply within an hour.

I've been using web hosting services for around 13 years now, and have finally settled on a host -- Hostgator -- that manages to be both cheap and reliable, as well as having 24/7 support.

That last point is vital for me. I've been a customer of various hosting companies who seem to go home at 5pm every day, leaving their customers stranded if they need a query answering or a serious support issue addressing. If something goes wrong at 6pm on a Friday, you can be cast adrift for more than 2 days.

I'm sure there are plenty of other 24/7 hosting companies but Hostgator's the one I've gone with, and after 3 years, have no complaints. The live Chat feature is brilliant. Instant response from knowledgeable technical support people, regardless of time of day or night. They are also extremely good value for money.

I have no affiliate-style relationship with them, so this is a genuine recommendation. I've no doubt there are many, many other excellent hosts out there but I'm happy with these guys.
