Other than perhaps Google, I've never really felt much benefit from being in such directories. If your website is good enough and your reputation strong enough, then word of mouth will often do just as well. YMMV.

I assume you mean the hoards of General B2b directory scripts run by webmasters? then there are indeed a ton of those, but honestly they wont deliver much traffic, and what they do deliver is just other directory owners looking for free weblinks, so no targeted visitors of worth there and these wont be buyers of B2b services anyway - so forget that.

People dont search General directories, but they do search Specialist directories if its a hub of information or a niche search tool.

Before chasing weblinks, its important to try and work out the type of traffic each website link will pass to you. You want traffic that actually buys from you.

looks like your a travel website, just add your link to niche travel directories.

I know not much traffic comes fromt hem but google does pick them up.

There is a list of Directories that SEO's use.Nowadays Directories are not important as Google doesn't takes into consideration.However I have heard that there are few good directories which does give good traffic.I built an article directory using it and it was fine for a couple of years before some hacked the site, again and again and again.It was an easy fix,but finally grew tiresome.
