Hello
I have put an advert for my website, yousaint.com in this fortnight's Private Eye magazine and I am very impressed with the results.
I put in in the classifieds section "Eye Sell"which is only £2.60 per word, with a £26 minimum charge.
Since Private Eye is a popular/famous satirical magazine it is perfect for my target audience of professional people who have a good sense of humour.
Has anyone else found a cost effective magazine / newspaper to advertise in?

watcha... not spoke for ages... hoe is it all going? Did you have a bumper Xmas?
Private eye is a good mag for your quirky product. You should at some othr niche mags as well and see how you get on.
Spectator, Oldie etc etc

Dave,
Just my thoughts as the the media pack does not really give much away, and I can only go on experience but... in nearly every one of the corporate places I have worked the Chief Exec has read it, along with usually the Fin Dir and senior marketing people... those with more time on their hands for "blue sky thinking" or whatever they call it :D
It is also well read by the City, I get the impression it is very much classed as the professional gentleman's Viz! I think that is why the Usaint ad would work as people like that are often (just based on my experience, rather than cold hard fact) looking for something quirky.
I know it is also popular in marketing departments. :)
p.s. I did not know you are based in Scotland? Have you moved or always been up there?

lol
We are UK wide sir!
Read the local Luton press over the next few weeks to find out about our new office! ( all done with free online PR)
Thanks for that info. we had a press pack a few years ago and that did not give the information either!
Think we might test market it with an add. What do you think?
( feel free to write it for me!)

I dunno, at £26 for an ad it is hardly going to be big money thrown away if it does not work but i am not sure it would get you much business as the senior people reading it would assume (theres that word again) their marketing teams would have it covered?
The most you could hope for (and god did I used to get loads of these from chief exec's) is a little note passed down with a ripped out piece from a mag saying, "have you thought about this" and it being something we do already, like customer profiling etc :D
Given that you know the market much better than me, I would say the obvious choices for your business (I take it we are talking Contact Foundry here) is Marketing Week, Marketing, maybe Campaign and maybe something like Call Centre Europe? As these are the ones that the senior marketing managers read?
Maybe butter up the feat ed at Marketing Week to do something on your business, especially if you have a shiny new office on the go... it is Ian McCawley at Marketing Week. You could encourage a feature, or at least get the nod on when the next one about your business area is coming up.

Thanks Yetis
Yes Contact Foundry, but we do not promote it as a telesales team, more internal sales people. Yes marketing words but there is a key difference and with now 5 Plc's on our books ( 2 more I hope next week even though they will be small first orders) that understand the difference
I also thought that £100.00 is not a lot to throw at something to see if it works.
PS do you know Ian?

We tried Private Eye once with no success - but maybe we would do better now we have more products.
We used to adverstise in Viz at the same time and you could tell which mag the caller was from because I couldn't understand a word the Viz people said and all the Private Eye people had opera playing in the background.

private eys is a good magazine but the trouble is, their is not enough of them at the shops. The shops need to get more in
