View Full Version : Slow Google

MSN and Yahoo are picking up new pages on my websites within a 24-48 hours, compared to Google which is taking 7-10 days. It used to be the other way around.
Is anyone else having the same problem?
The site seems to be regularly visited by Googlebot but it's a bit frustrating waiting 10 days for a new page to appear in the search engine results.

This is normal behaviour for Google now. Even with an updated sitemap.xml file submitted to them, they really take their take to index new pages.

rs, finally someone replied :)
Yes, I have noticed since the jagger update, that things at the Googleplex are slowing down - I've actually stopped using Google as a search engine because I want more up to date information when I search, so have shifted over to MSN.
Google though will also be peoples' no1 choice to get ranked highly in due to it's popularity..
All of the pages that I have designed new have now appeared, it's taken 10 days for these pages to appear.
I also think theres a slowdown of new pages ranking well in Google too. A few weeks in Google, and they jump up the rankings without any additional SEO work undertaken.

I really wish every company would stop siding with Google and sticking things in to make it easier to use, when MSN is becoming a better search engine. It technically means Google has to do sod all, as everyone else is doing it for them. Apple have become guilty of this. I've got 2 applications built into my computer that mean I never have to visit google.com to use Google.
I would take a small guess that IE7 won't do this and might lean towards MSN ;)

I'm a big Google fan, and only because it's annoying the hell out of Microsoft! The problem is though that if you want up to date information, Google is no longer 'the king' it once was.
They have gone down this route in my opinion because of the growing number of spammers - but Google themselves are the cause of a lot of spam - I mean have you seen how many websites are created simply to gain an income from Google Adwords.
I'd love to get a mac, but would struggle to get used to the fact that not all of the software and applications are availble for it.

I switched over to MSN over a year ago and I haven't looked back. I've frequently seen MSN crawl/update my sites in as little as two hours.

Eagle, yes it's very quick!
Any idea where they get the news articles for MSN news from? I can't find anywhere that I can submit that will submit to MSN.
