Help / advice needed to add a PDF File

Hi - Can anyone advise me on this...

I would like to add a PDF File that can be downloaded from my website, how would I go about adding this?

The PDF File would not be for financial gain, so wouldn't need to be on an e-commerce basis - just a free download link on a page on my website that is HTML based.

If you link to the pdf it will allow the visitors to open in a browser and then save it. If you want to save it, you have 2 options,

1) Zip the pdf and then link to the zip file e.g. www.mydomain.com/downloads/file-pdf.zip
2) PHP force download (link (http://webdesign.about.com/od/php/ht/force_download.htm))
