Hi there,

Im new to the boards, but not too programming/forums, etc so bare with my as my posts are blank and boring, I'll get back up to speed soon.

My background is in IT, but I have just ventured into the electrical game, and I specialise in the Combined In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment (thats a mouthful, so just say PAT Testing for short)...

If you have a business then you should know what its about, as its required every year depending upon your circumstances.

Anyway, if anybody has any IT, or PAT Testing questions then please feel free to ask me, as I love helping people and do all I can to give you the correct guidance and my honesty in all that I do. And as I believe all information should be free, I go out of my way to help the best that I can, and for FREE of course... :)

Speak to you soon,

Jon. http://www.oakappliancetesting.co.uk/images/tu.gif

As I work from home I think I do not need to do PAT testing, correct?

As above, if I can help with anything shout!

Thats right, although theres always one exception, and thats me.. I work from home too, but need to do tons of PAT Testing...

okay so it wasn't that funny..... I've been stuffing envelopes for wayyyy too long and have lost my sense of humour

You should only test if you have staff working, or customers/members of the public visiting, because if an injury should occur on your premises then you'll be liable...

Getting your electrical equipment tested "passes the buck" so to speak legally onto the PAT Testing company should anything happen..

Hi Jon and welcome.

One question....PAT means Portable Appliance Testing does it not? In which case is PAT testing the testing of the test?? :D

Hi Crus, I just noticed that you are from Bristol.... what a great place, that is where I went to University (UWE)... (10 years ago) - yikes!!

If you have any advice on getting customers then that would help a great deal....

thanks,

Jon.
